Kuda UK Remittance Feature

International Bank Transfer
Send to a foriegn bank account.
Context
Sending money from UK to other countries in USD can be done through international transfer on the global app
Project Summary
Money transfers between banks typically involve the banks at both ends of the transaction and a middleman of sorts to mediate. The Global app provides the user an easier way for UK remittance with the international transfers feature where pounds can be sent directly to other countries only in USD
Problems & Opportunity
Problem
Prior to the creation of this UK Remittance feature it has been quite of a struggle sending money to other countries especially Nigeria because it normally goes through a middle man service and this inquire alot of charges and can be inconvenient
Opportunity
How might we provide in-app service that allows user to send money directly to someone in Nigeria or other Countries uninterruptedly
Project Objective
Have users to make international transfers in few steps by giving them option to:
Send USD to directly to the beneficiary bank account
Send USD as cash pick up
See progress of transaction
Convert Pounds to USD seeing the exchange rate
The remittance flow
We started by letting the initial user flow from the PRD guide our design
This flow shows the journey of a Kuda user trying to send money abroad. United Kingdom 🇬🇧 to Nigeria 🇳🇬 in this case.
Potential Impact
Allowing Kuda Global App users to be able to conveniently make payments for their businesses or to friends and family on the same app rather than using other platforms, In turn also boosting the rate of us new users coming in to make use of the new feature.
Iterations & Options
We went back and forth on the decision of finding the best flow for the user either to fill their personal details before making currency conversion or vice versa. We decided that the users should first go through currency conversion to see the transaction fees and conversion rate before filling out personal details
Remittance Ux flow
First Iteration
In this first iteration, the flow started off by letting the user Choose currency to send from then Choose country to send to before getting to the add New recipient screen.

On clicking new recipient it brings up a pop up to show you the option of the type of transfer you want to make, either Account transfer or Cash pick up. The major difference between the two options is that the cash pick up isn't the recipients bank details its been sent to. It is selected banks which the recipients can pick up cash from, while Account transfer is the recipients account details, email, phone number and house address. Before they can see the currency exchange screen. then Review screen next

Final Iteration
For this, we changed the flow because we wanted to make sure the user sees the currency conversion and exchange rate first before the proceeding to fill recipients details. Also choosing country to send to and bank account to send from in that same screen.
Account Transfer Flow

Next is to proceed to account transfer, then fill recipient’s details and Review recipients details.
Cash Pick Up
The user only sends to a selected bank which the recipient can pick up cash from. Then proceeds to fill in the recipients details

Transaction Details states
After review and confirmation, Transaction will be processing and you can view the status of the transaction
